Autograph letter signed : Calverley Hotel, Tunbridge Wells, to W.H. Harrison, 1860 Aug. 26.

Reporting that they have been away four weeks for benefit of Mrs. Ruskin's health. His son returns next week. They hope that Mr. Harrison will join them at Mrs. Ruskin's birthday dinner September 2. Articles signed J.R. are in August and September Cornhill. His son sent them saying that they should not be published if they annoyed John James Ruskin. But he liked them, and is "proud of the last with all their shortcomings anent the Modern Science of P. Economy." Dr. Braun of Edinburgh "was very uneasy at my letting what he called these unlucky Papers be published & he set his newspaper the Scotsman on them to cut them up. Abuse as usual will be poured on them, but they are very good & will do good for all that." He does not regret their publication.
